Appointment Cancellations

To keep waiting times down please email or call us with at least 48 hours notice (two working days) if you need to cancel an appointment.

Notice Period for Cancellations

If you cannot attend your appointment please let us know at least 48 hours beforehand, so that we can arrange another appointment for you.

If you cancel your counselling session with less than 48 hours notice (two working-days),  the appointment is likely to count as one of your short term counselling sessions.  It may take 1 - 2 weeks before we can offer you another appointment time.

If you simply don't turn up for an appointment we will wait for you to contact us.

Serial Cancellation of Appointments

If you serially don't keep appointments we may not be able to offer you ongoing counselling.

What We Ask of You

  • keep us updated with any changes in your availability
  • re-read our cancellation policy before your first counselling session
  • check your University email address regularly and confirm appointments when requested

How to Cancel an Appointment

To cancel your appointment, please call 0131 650 4170 or email  student.counselling@ed.ac.uk.   Don’t contact your counsellor directly, as they may not get the message in time.
