ReDD (Reducing Digital Distraction) workshops

The Student Counselling Service & Dr Ulrik Lyngs (University of Oxford) provide research backed techniques to Reduce Digital Distraction & turn procrastination into productivity.

Do you find that social media can get in the way of focussing on your studies? Do you worry that you’re losing sleep due to ‘doom-scrolling’ at night? If you would you like to feel more in-control of how you use your digital devices, then our ReDD Workshops are for you.

The Reducing Digital Distraction (or ReDD) workshop was originally developed at the University of Oxford in 2019, through a collaboration between the Department of Computer Science and the Counselling Service. The workshop aims to help students feel more in control of their digital lives by supporting them to find the right digital-focus tools.

Since 2023, staff from University of Edinburgh have delivered ReDD Workshops. They are now offered by specially trained staff from Student Counselling Service along with Disability and Learning Support Service, Student Wellbeing Service and Careers Service. They are available throughout the year and are delivered in-person and online. You can see the dates of upcoming workshops and book onto them using the button below.
